I love the blues it makes quite a change and still the brilliant turkey red in the border

This one is quite lightweight, woven and has a few holes. It is thinning but has gorgeous intricate patterns

Below is a very decorative hanging probably for a yurt.

It is a nomadic piece and would look wonderful across a beam. 4 1/2 Metres x 38 inches.There is quite a bit of damage, these items had a hard life, however it is still strong.

Paisley is a passion of mine, I always have a collection of these shawls.

They range from long crinoline shawls to small squares suitable for little side tables. I buy damaged shawls suitable for cushions and other craft projects.

The shawls come in wool and silk, either woven or printed.

The Shawl was a popular gift brought home from India and the East and when these became a fashion item, mills in Europe began to reproduce them. "Paisley" is the popular name for all these shawls, but they were also produced in Edinburgh and Norfolk as well as Paisley near Glasgow where they took their name from.

France loved these shawls too and produced their own patterns. Empress Josephine was a collector of these and had many . They became very popular in the court of France.
